L&SWR Type 1 Signal Box

Introduced in 1871, with the last examples built in 1880, still in use during the BR period. This low plinth version was placed on station platforms. A lean-to store adjoins the rear. The model is based on the 1st generation Crewkerne Box.

Presented in BR(S) building green, white and cream paintwork with ham stone ashlar plinth.

Footprint: 68 mm x 53 mm; 73 x 58 incl. overhangs; 73 x 82 incl. store overall.

Build skill level: ADVANCED (See Welcome Page for definition) .
Rated ADVANCED because of intricate window frame cutting, steps and gutters assembly.

Expert build time: 8 hrs.

  • 3 x A4 Sticky Backed Paper for Ink Jet or Laser Printers
  • 1 x A4 Non-sticky Paper for Ink Jet or Laser Printers
  • 1 x 99 mm x 210 mm x 250 micron (0.25 mm) Transparent Plastic
  • 250 mm x 1 mm wire

You still need to print the papers yourself and source adhesives.
